Spoke ("Spoke," "we," "our," or "us") is an Android app published by Studio Kunj. This Privacy Policy explains how Spoke collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you install or use the Spoke app.

1. What Spoke Does

Spoke is a voice note app for Android. It lets you capture voice recordings and text notes, transcribes your voice in real time, and uses AI to polish your notes, suggest tags and action items, and answer questions across your note collection.

2. Information We Collect and Process
Spoke may collect, process, or store the following information in order to provide its functionality:

3. How We Use Information
We use information only as necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and improve Spoke's disclosed functionality. This includes:

Transcribing your voice recordings into text

Polishing, summarising, and enhancing your notes using AI at your request

Answering questions about your notes using AI at your request

Syncing your notes across your devices when you are signed in

Saving your preferences and usage information between sessions

Diagnosing crashes and improving app stability

Protecting the service from misuse, fraud, or abuse

Complying with legal obligations
4. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell personal data. We do not use or transfer user data for advertising, data brokerage, creditworthiness, lending, or unrelated profiling.
We may share information only as necessary to provide Spoke's core functionality, comply with the law, or protect the service and users.
Spoke may share information with:

OpenAI, to transcribe audio you record and to process notes for AI polish and chat features

Anthropic, to process notes for AI polish and chat features when Claude is selected as your AI provider

Google Firebase, to authenticate your account, sync your notes, and deliver remote configuration

Legal authorities or other parties, where required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
Audio recordings are never shared with any third party.
5. Audio Privacy
Audio recordings you create in Spoke are stored exclusively on your device. They are used locally to enable audio playback and word-level seeking within the app.
Audio is sent to OpenAI's Whisper API solely to generate a text transcript of your recording, at the time of transcription. We do not retain, sell, or use your audio for any other purpose.
6. Local Storage
Spoke stores certain information locally on your device, including:

All audio recordings you create

Note text and metadata

AI feature usage counters

App preferences such as transcription language and AI provider
This local data remains on your device until you delete individual notes, export your data, or uninstall the app.
7. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

Notes deleted within the app are held in a recovery bin for 7 days before permanent deletion.

Notes and account data associated with your Google account are deleted when you choose "Delete Account" in Settings.

Audio files are deleted when you delete the associated note and the recovery period expires.

Operational logs and crash reports may be retained for a limited period for security, troubleshooting, and legal compliance.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information handled by Spoke. Data in transit is encrypted using industry-standard TLS. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Third-Party Services
Spoke relies on third-party services to operate. Their handling of information is governed by their own privacy policies and terms. These may include: OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Firebase.
We encourage you to review the privacy policies of those providers before using Spoke.
10. Your Choices
You may use Spoke without signing in. In that case, notes are stored locally only and are not synced across devices.
You may export all your notes at any time as a ZIP file containing Markdown files and your local audio, from the Settings screen.
You may delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from the Settings screen.
11. Children’s Privacy
Spoke is not directed to children under 13, or under the minimum age required in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable law.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do, we will post the updated version on this page and update the Effective Date above. Continued use of Spoke after the updated policy becomes effective means you accept the revised policy, to the extent permitted by law.
